Liposuction
Beaux Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery provides liposuction to patients throughout Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures among our patients in Lanham, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and the surrounding areas. It removes fat from the subcutaneous tissues using fine metal cannulas. Liposuction is great for removing localized bulges of fat or to reshape an area of the body, like the abdomen, the buttocks, the back or the thighs.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can benefit from this procedure, please take a moment to look through some liposuction before and after pictures, or give us a call. We'd be happy to answer any and all questions, including average liposuction costs.
How is Liposuction Performed?
Liposuction is performed right here in our state-of-the-art Lanham office. We use a thin, hollow tube known as a cannula to suction out the unwanted fat cells in your specific treatment area. Often times, liposuction is performed in conjunction with other procedures, such as tummy tucks, arm lifts, etc. You'll discuss all of these options with Dr. Banks during your initial consultation.
How Do I Know if Liposuction is Right for Me?
If you are struggling with pockets of fat that simply won't go away no matter how much you diet and exercise, liposuction may be for you. This procedure can also be used for male breast reduction (gynecomastia) or to better define the chest or abdominal muscles. It's important to remember, however, that liposuction is not meant for weight loss. It cannot remove excess skin. Those patients that have good skin elasticity (little or no stretch marks) will have great skin retraction after liposuction.
What Type of Post-Operative Liposuction Care Can I Expect?
Liposuction is generally an outpatient procedure and all patients need to wear a compression garment after surgery until all swelling has gone away. Plan to abstain from strenuous activities or aerobic-type exercise for one week. To maximize your results, you will need to wear a compression garment for four weeks after your procedure.
What are Liposuction Costs?
Liposuction costs depend on the patient. Many of our patients choose to have liposuction at the same time as another procedure, so this will factor in to your costs. During your personal consultation with Dr. Banks, you will be able to discuss all of your options and goals, and Dr. Banks will come up with a specific treatment plan from there.
