The Fine Art of Being You

The Fine Art of Being You

It seems that anyone with a computer these days is claiming to be a skin or beauty expert.  Many times my clients come to me repeating information that they read on the internet about a particular product review.  They have come to me seeking advice for a particular skin issue with a method and solution already in mind because of something some “expert” swears to as the only thing that works. The truth is that there are many paths to reaching desired results in skincare.  Also, these “experts” often do not have the education in aesthetics or the experience of analyzing different skin types.
So what do you do when your skin looks older than you feel? Or when your moisturizer just does not seem to be working? Or you think you suddenly have some skin condition that you read about on the computer when trying to self-diagnose?
I know that this may seem old-fashioned, but schedule an appointment to see your aesthetician!  At the Beaux Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery, we offer complimentary skincare consultations.   We actually take the time to listen to your concerns, and analyze your skin underneath lamps that can specifically show exactly what your skin is experiencing.  These lamps reveal what the naked eye can’t see.  We then suggest a path to successful skincare that often includes multiple, in-office treatments… not just a one-time treatment and home care products.  We like to establish realistic expectations for our patients.  We can treat beyond just great skincare because we are a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery office.  For example, if you communicate your concerns regarding expression/frown lines in the forehead or smiles lines that linger, we will not hesitate to suggest to patients that Botox may be an option for frown lines and Juvederm is what might work best for smile lines.  Sometimes a combination approach is needed. Botox and/or a dermal filler, a series of Jessner Peels, and appropriate home-care products will all help you achieve your desired results. “The Fine Art of Being You” – that is our motto at the Beaux Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery and we can help you achieve it every step of the way!
