Thigh Lift 101- Results, Cost, and Recovery

Losing weight can be a difficult task and often times fat deposits are left behind despite the many efforts to get rid of them, despite the number of stairs climbed or blocks walked. Whether you’ve worked hard to lose weight, or experiencing the effects of aging a Thigh Lift could benefit you. A Thigh Lift can help remove excess fat deposits, sagging or drooping skin around the thigh, and restore your thighs to a smoother, slimmer shape.  Of the different options available to a Thigh Lift procedure, there include the inner thigh lift, a vertical thighplasty, an outer thigh lift, and a spiral thighplasty. The type of Thigh Lift you choose depends the area you hope to target, as well as the looseness of the skin and the fat present.

Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa in Glen Burnie, MD

During the procedure, a surgeon will make an incision along the appropriate area and lift the excess skin. After, deep stitches will be put in place to support the new contours of the thigh, and sutures will be put in place to close the incision. During recovery, it’s important for the patient to avoid strenuous activity and wear a compression garment to support the thighs in their recovery, although it is important to move around in order to prevent the formation of blood clots. Muscle soreness and a feeling of skin tightness are to be expected along with swelling, bruising, and redness.  As with all types of plastic surgeries that include incisions, risks include an adverse reaction to anesthesia, bleeding, and infection. Additionally, one may experience discoloration of the skin, a reduction of sensitivity, asymmetrical results, and possible scarring.

Ideal candidates are physically and emotionally healthy, non-smokers, and are at a stable and comfortable weight. It’s very important to understand that thigh lifts are not a substitute for weight loss. Before surgery a candidate will discuss a treatment plan with the performing surgeon, along with figuring out the costs as there are several different Thigh Lift procedures one may choose to do depending on their desired results.
