What is a Liquid Facelift?

Liquid-FaceliftYou think the idea of a facelift is an intriguing one – you’re just not sure you want to go through the hassle of surgery.

While a traditional facelift can be one of the best ways to address common aging symptoms – including sagging skin, drooping eyelids, and excessive wrinkles – there’s no denying it involves serious surgery.  What’s more, the facelift procedure requires a significant downtime period, with most patients required to take time off from work while recovering.

Fortunately, there’s a new way to get the younger and tighter appearance associated with the facelift – and it doesn’t require a single incision.

Introducing the Liquid Facelift

At Beaux Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery in Lanham, Maryland, we pride ourselves on offering patients innovative and effective cosmetic treatments.  That’s why we’re pleased to announce the arrival of the Liquid Facelift, a procedure that uses Botox and dermal fillers to reveal smoother, tighter, and younger-looking skin.

Here’s how the Liquid Facelift works:

  • Botox is injected into common treatment areas, including on the forehead and around the corner of the eyes (crow’s feet). Almost immediately, skin begins to look smoother and younger, as Botox helps address some of the deeper wrinkles and lines associated with aging and constant facial expressions.  Botox can also be used to promote a slight eyebrow lift, which addresses sagging skin around the eyes.
  • Dermal fillers are then selectively applied around the nose, in the cheeks, and around the jawline. Since most dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid – a natural compound that promotes instant volumization – these injections can be used to lift and contour the face.  Dermal fillers are commonly used to eliminate prominent nasolabial folds, enhance the cheek areas, and provide additional contouring.

Best of all, the Liquid Facelift allows for greater control over the final outcome, as your plastic surgeon can instantly view results and make any necessary tweaks.

The Liquid Facelift can last anywhere from six months to a year.  Patients will need to schedule regular touchups to maintain their results.  Those patients with severe aging symptoms may see greater benefit from traditional facelift surgery.
